Scope of the assignment
Founded in the mid nineties, our client provides electronic solutions for clinical trials to many of the world's leading Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Companies. The services integrate Internet and telephone based technologies that enable process improvement for pharmaceutical and biotech sponsors.
In 2006 Catalise were engaged to support the acquisition of a premier Electronic Data Capture vendor, based in the USA. This would enable our client to offer a comprehensive suite of clinical trial management and data capture systems.
Description of deliverables
The engagement involved the following elements and deliverables:
- Preparing the two organisations for the acquisition, and engaged six weeks prior to transaction completion
- Managing the communication and launch activities across multiple sites throughout North America and Europe
- Creating and gaining buy-in for a shared vision
- Developing the supporting organisation structure and the job allocation processes
- Setting up and resourcing an Integration Office to identify and carry out a consistent and complete set of projects to achieve the business goals, with a maximum return on investment and quality, and with minimum risk
- Developing streams of activity and performance indicators to monitor integration completion
- Implementing a method and a plan to engage and involve the key stakeholders, and to manage the readiness for, and impact of, the acquisition and change
Approach used
Catalise helped to manage priorities and to ensure that key actions were conducted, and just as importantly to avoid the key risks of excessive list making and creating a planning circus. Additionally, and critically, we helped to ensure that the supporting organisation supported the future vision for the new combined entity. This pro-active approach and facilitated approach led to an extremely smooth and well received launch and to customers purchasing the combined product sets much more quickly than initially expected.
